Senior Statistical Scientist

Sydney Catchment Authority

Location: Penrith, NSW

You will ensure experimental work performed by, or on behalf of, Sydney Catchment Authority(SCA) is efficiently and effectively designed and interpreted. Ensure that SCA approaches for design and interpretation of water quality and ecological monitoring programs are in line with best statistical practice to ensure the most efficient realisation of defensible, credible and tangible outcomes from these programs. Manage collaborative research projects with external collaborators and contractors in the broad area of catchment health, ecological processes, water quality and yield. Provide expert input into SCA's activities to ensure the SCA captures the benefits of research

Selection Criteria: Tertiary qualifications in Science or Statistics, preferably at post-graduate level, and comprehensive knowledge in the use of statistics in natural resource management; Extensive experience in statistical analysis of large and complex ecological, landscape, water quality or hydrological datasets; Expert knowledge and experience in experimental design and graphical analysis in more of the areas of landscape processes, sediment and nutrient budgeting, pathogen sources and transport, ecosystems, hydrology and catchment systems; High quality scientific and management skills of outcome-driven research, including project generation, budgeting, and cross-organisational collaboration and knowledge exchange; Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and negotiation skills; Proven track record in writing clear concise, purposeful and accurate business and technical documentation; Demonstrated project management skills including strong time management and organisational skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement; Possession of Class C Drivers Licence; Knowledge and capacity to implement Equal Employment Opportunity and Occupational Health and Safety, Ethnic Affairs Priorities Statement and Ethical practice, Corporate Governance Framework and Code of Conduct along with the ability to apply these principles in the workplace
