Biostatistician
Menzies School of Health Research

Academic Level B or C (depending on qualifications and experience)
Salary range $57,696 - $81,498
plus excellent salary packaging and annual leave benefits
MSHR is seeking a suitable candidate to provide biostatistical leadership, analysis and data management support to researchers and postgraduate research students across MSHR's diverse research portfolio. This person will also be expected to teach biostatistics in postgraduate education programs and to supervise junior statisticians.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant will have skills and qualifications including: a degree in statistics or biostatistics; proficient in the use of a range of statistical and database software packages, including SPSS and STATA, for manipulation and analysis of data sets; experience and ability in providing statistical methods and analysis within a health research environment and demonstrated success in teaching statistics/biostatistics to postgraduate students. Postgraduate qualifications in statistics or biostatistics; and experience with advanced statistical methodologies would also be viewed favourably.
Menzies has existing links with the Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics Unit (CEBU) at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute and University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, under the direction of Prof John Carlin. The opportunity exists to develop a collaboration with CEBU that would allow for feedback and consultation on biostatistical issues, undertaking collaborative projects, joint involvement in teaching activities, and interaction with other biostatisticians.
The position is full-time for at least 2 years, and assistance with relocation costs may be negotiated.
