*The Health Inequalities Research Programme at the Wellington School of Medicine and Health Sciences seeks a doctoral (PhD) student within the SoFIE-Health research project. SoFIE is an 8-year longitudinal study of 20,000 adults conducted by SNZ, collecting data on labour market participation, income, educational activities, family structure and asset wealth. SoFIE-/Health /is an extension to SoFIE, by way of the addition of 20 minutes of health questions and record linkage of hospitalisation, cancer and mortality data. Its goals are to determine the impact of social factors on health, conversely the impacts of health on social factors, and the inter-relationships with primary health care characteristics.
We seeking to appoint a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow to undertake social epidemiology and/or biostatistical research activities on this study, and on the New Zealand Census-Mortality Study project, within the Health Inequalities Research Programme. This includes taking a leadership role in Goal 2 of the SoFIE study:
Determining the impact of health status on labour market factors, income trajectories, asset wealth and family dynamics, including analyses, interpretation, write-up and dissemination. The successful candidate will also actively contribute to other research outputs and supervise postgraduate students.

*The Health Inequalities Research Programme at the Wellington School of Medicine and Health Sciences seeks a doctoral (PhD) student within the SoFIE-Health research project. SoFIE is an 8-year longitudinal study of 20,000 adults conducted by SNZ, collecting data on labour market participation, income, educational activities, family structure and asset wealth. The disciplinary focus of the PhD is likely to be one of social epidemiology, sociology (quantitative) or biostatistics. The successful candidate will be a member of an active and enthusiastic team of researchers. Applicants should have a first class honours degree or equivalent in epidemiology, sociology or quantitative social science, public health, statistics, or qualification/experience that demonstrates research capability.
A tax-free stipend of $20 to $25,000 per annum will be provided.
