The Cancer Council Queensland is the foremost non-government anti-cancer organisation in Queensland. The Cancer Council conducts a range of activities including cancer support services, research, and cancer prevention and early detection.
The Cancer Council Queensland houses the Viertel Centre for Research in Cancer Control, incorporating an Epidemiology Unit. All sections of The Cancer Council Queensland work together as part of an integrated approach to cancer control based on surveillance, research and evidence-based interventions. An Assistant Data Analyst is sought for a three year contract within the Epidemiology Unit.
The role: You will assist the Senior Biostatistician and Biostatistician in statistical analysis and research in cancer epidemiology, with particular focus on conducting descriptive analyses of population-based cancer data. The successful applicant will also assist with formatting results into graphs, tables and summaries for insertion into reports and research manuscripts. You will have the ability to conduct literature searches and summaries as required.
The person: You will demonstrate high order numerical skills and a high level of attention to detail. Demonstrated aptitude for statistical programming, data manipulation and data management is required. The successful applicant will ideally have a tertiary degree with a statistics major or equivalent experience and knowledge. Experience using statistical software (Stata and/or SAS) is favoured.
This is a three year contract position.
