School of Physical Sciences - Mathematics

The School is seeking a Lecturer in Mathematics or Statistics. The preferred fields are discrete mathematics or applied statistics, but applications in the following fields will also be considered: applied probability, bioinformatics, mathematical physics, and nonlinear analysis/partial differential equations.

Applicants should possess a PhD in mathematics or statistics, and have a strong publication record and a commitment to obtaining research funding, commensurate with career stage. Experience in the development and implementation of courses in mathematics or statistics is desirable, and an ability to teach large classes is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with staff and students are also essential.

The appointee will be expected to: teach in the School's undergraduate and postgraduate programs, particularly to large first and second level undergraduate classes; provide Honours and higher degree supervision; maintain a strong research record.

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 5 years at Academic level B. The remuneration package will be in the range of $77,514 to $92,048 (Academic Level B) per annum, including employer superannuation contributions of 17%. Level of appointment will be dependent upon qualifications, experience and academic achievements.
