Lecturer in Veterinary Biostatistics

The Faculty of Veterinary Science is a world-class facility for student learning, research excellence and animal welfare. It is recognised internationally as a leading provider of veterinary education and a key contributor to world best practice in the care and welfare of animals. The Faculty is currently experiencing major growth in research activities and to support this activity seeks to appoint a second statistician.

The successful appointee will be responsible for teaching veterinary biostatistics and to contributing to research. He or she will contribute statistical expertise to a wide range of activities, including animal biosecurity, veterinary public health, evaluation of animal clinical trials and genomics and bioinformatics. An opportunity exists to work under the guidance of an experienced biostatistician and to develop collaborative research projects with biometricians and biostatisticians in other Faculties.

To be considered for this position you will need a PhD or equivalent in Biostatistics, Biometry or Statistics as well as the capacity to undertake collaborative research and offer statistical advice relevant to the veterinary sciences. Excellent written and oral skills and the ability to work both autonomously and in a team will be required. Experience in teaching applied statistics in the areas of public health, epidemiology and clinical trials would be an advantage, but applicants from other relevant life science fields will be considered.

Remuneration package: $83,363 - $98,993 p.a. (which includes a base salary Lecturer Level B $70,443 - $83,651 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation)
