Post-Doctoral Fellow
The University of New South Wales
A post-doctoral fellow position (initially 12 months with possible extension
for a further 2 years) is available for a water quality research project
conducted jointly in the School of Safety Science and the School of
Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New South Wales, Sydney.
Concerned with the statistical analysis of water quality monitoring data in
the Shoalhaven Supply System and catchments, the successful applicant will be
involved in reviewing and testing a range of statistical methods to assess
and report on short- and long-term water quality trends, time series analysis
and modelling relationships between water quality monitoring variables, flow
and rainfall. As a member of a multi-disciplinary research team
(including collaborators from Sydney Catchment Authority) the post-doctoral
fellow will contribute significantly to improve the understanding and
reporting of water quality variations.
The position requires a PhD in statistics or in a quantitative application
involving the analysis and modelling of time series, with a strong record of
high-quality research publications. The successful candidate will possess
good communication and organisational skills and will demonstrate the ability
to work collaboratively in the multidisciplinary team. Previous experience in
applying statistical skills to the analysis of natural resource management
data-sets is desirable.
