Peter Mac is seeking a self-motivated, quick learner for their bioinformatics core. In this position you will aid in the analysis of large experimental biological data (e.g. microarray data) using commercial and open source software under the direction of a senior bioinformatics analyst. You will become proficient in bioinformatics software packages and eventually train scientists on the usage of the software. The primary responsibility will be to analyse experimental data under the guidance of a senior analyst; however there will be the opportunity to be involved in more developmental research as you demonstrate your ability to perform.
A MSc/BSc degree in Computer Science, Communication Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and/or Bioinformatics with relevant work experience is essential. You must be able to implement established statistical methods or algorithms in at least one high level language such as C, C++, Matlab or R and have experience working in both Windows and Linux OS.
A background in the life sciences, experimental medicine and/or clinical trials is desirable but not essential. You have the ability to work well independently and in a team environment, and will have excellent communication skills with desire to share knowledge and skills with others.
