Research Associate/Senior Research Associate - Invariant theory, cellularity and geometry (Level B/C/D)

The School of Mathematics and Statistics has earned international recognition as one of the most significant mathematical research centres in the country. It is currently inviting applications from suitable qualified candidates to conduct research within the ambit of the five year ARC funded project “Invariant theory, cellularity and geometry” led by Professor Gus Lehrer and Associate Professor Ruibin Zhang. The central focus of this project is the representation theory of quantum groups, algebraic groups, Kac-Moody algebras and superalgebras.

To succeed, the successful candidate will require relevant areas of expertise in algebraic geometry, representation theory of algebras including cellular algebras, homological algebra and arithmetical aspects of topology and representation theory.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Mathematics and demonstrated evidence of research ability and potential in the area of abstract mathematical structures. Effective written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience working in both a multidisciplinary team and a collaborative environment will also be required.

The position is full-time fixed term for a period of two years and there is the possibility of further offers of employment of up to three years, subject to funding, performance and need.

The level of the appointment will be commensurated according to the applicants’ experience, qualifications, research accomplishment and potential.

Remuneration package for Level B: $83,363 - $98,993 p.a. (which includes a base salary Lecturer Level B $70,443 - $83,651 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation)

Remuneration package for Level C: $102,118 - $117,642 p.a. (which includes a base salary Senior Lecturer Level C $86,291 - $99,499 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation)

Remuneration package for Level D: $122,791 - $135,150 p.a. (which includes a base salary Level D $103,900 - $114,463 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation)
