Research Officer/Senior Research Officer in Bioinformatic

The Australian Zebrafish Phenomics Facility (AZPF) has been established by an NH&MRC enbabling grant to service the Australian zebrafish community needs with respect to a functional genomics platform over the next 5 years. The AZPF is centered at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) at the University of Queensland with links to other facilities at UQ and interstate.

The Role: The position is to work within the AZPF team to broaden zebrafish expression profiling and ChIP-chip platforms. An experienced person is sought to facilitate genome annotations, examine expression profiling and tiling array data (mostly on Agilent platforms), perform a statistical service and help with graphical outputs via interfacing with UCSC and similar browsers.

The Person: Applicants should possess a PhD in bioinformatics or biochemistry. Competency in data analysis software such as GeneSpring and in using standard genomics web browsers such as the UCSC and Ensembl browsers is essential. Experience in bioinformatics, genome sequencing and annotation projects, expression profiling, statistics, analysis of ChIP-chip or expression profiling data, and script writing is highly desirable.

Remuneration: This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for one year initially, with renewal subject to funding. The remuneration package will be in the range $54,289 to $73,639 per annum (Res Acad Level A); $77,515 to $92,048 per annum (Res Acad Level B), including employer superannuation contributions of 17%. The appointment will be at a level commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience.
