HEALTH INEQUALITIES RESEARCH PROGRAMME
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

We are seeking to appoint a Research Biostatician / Analyst within the
Health Inequalities Research Programme (IRP;
http://www.wnmeds.ac.nz/HIRP-info.html). The position is full-time for
a two year period. A tertiary qualification in statistics at Honours or
Masters level is desirable with a working knowledge of SAS. The key
tasks are:
Conducting biostatistical analyses, and providing biostatistical
advice to other researchers and postgraduate students working on
HIRP projects.
Working with SAS, developing macros, producing tables and graphs
for reports.
Interpretation of analyses, writing up of publications, and oral
dissemination of findings.
The main study you will be working on is SoFIE-Health, a longitudinal
study of 20,000 adults conducted collaboratively with Statistics New
Zealand. It commenced in 2002, and will run for 8 annual waves.
SoFIE-Health seeks to understand the dynamics over time of labour market
participation, income, educational activities, family structure, asset
wealth and health.
