    HEALTH INEQUALITIES RESEARCH PROGRAMME
    DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH
    UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO, WELLINGTON

    We are seeking to appoint a Research Biostatician / Analyst within the Health Inequalities Research Programme (IRP; http://www.wnmeds.ac.nz/HIRP-info.html). The position is full-time for a two year period. A tertiary qualification in statistics at Honours or Masters level is desirable with a working knowledge of SAS. The key tasks are:
  • Conducting biostatistical analyses, and providing biostatistical advice to other researchers and postgraduate students working on HIRP projects.
  • Working with SAS, developing macros, producing tables and graphs for reports.
  • Interpretation of analyses, writing up of publications, and oral dissemination of findings.

    The main study you will be working on is SoFIE-Health, a longitudinal study of 20,000 adults conducted collaboratively with Statistics New Zealand. It commenced in 2002, and will run for 8 annual waves. SoFIE-Health seeks to understand the dynamics over time of labour market participation, income, educational activities, family structure, asset wealth and health.
