Finity Consulting is an independently owned firm of actuaries and insurance consultants. We are specialists in the insurance and related financial services industries, with particular expertise in property and liability insurance and in accident compensation. In 2006 Finity Consulting was named service provider of the year to the insurance industry by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF).

Our consultants have worked together for a long time and have longstanding relationships with many of our clients. There are currently around 70 of us, in Sydney and Melbourne.

As a professional statistician at Finity Consulting you will be working alongside our actuarial consultants to deliver innovative business solutions to our clients. You will be responsible for:

developing claims cost and other models using statistical and data mining techniques

building decision support tools to enable clients to convert the findings from statistical models into optimal business strategies

developing and maintaining business and establishing client networks

communicating results internally and to clients

managing small teams on client projects

researching new modelling tools and techniques.

As a guide, we are looking for candidates with 3-5 years experience working as a statistician and who have completed or commenced a relevant post graduate (Masters or above) tertiary qualification. We are however willing to be flexible with these requirements for a suitable candidate.

You will have extensive experience in running GLMs, and be familiar with SAS. Experience in S or R is an advantage. Experience in financial services will be highly valued, especially in general insurance.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong communication skills and an innovative approach to problem solving.
