Research Associate/Senior Research Associate - Invariant theory, cellularity and geometry (Level B/C/D)

The School of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications from suitably qualified people for the above position. The Associate will conduct research within the ambit of the ARC funded project “Invariant theory, cellularity and geometry” led by Professor Gus Lehrer and Associate Professor Ruibin Zhang. The central focus of this project is the representation theory of quantum groups, algebraic groups, Kac-Moody algebras and superalgebras.

Relevant areas of expertise include algebraic geometry, representation theory of algebras including cellular algebras, homological algebra and arithmetical aspects of topology and representation theory.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Mathematics and demonstrated research ability and potential in at least one of subject areas of the project. Effective written and verbal communication skills and experience working in a collaborative environment will also be required.

The position is full-time fixed term for a period of two years and there is the possibility of further offers of employment of up to three years, subject to performance, need and availability of funding.

The level of the appointment will be commensurate with the applicants’ experience, qualifications and research accomplishment.

Remuneration package for Level B: $83,363 - $98,993 p.a. (which includes a base salary Lecturer Level B $70,443 - $83,651 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation)

Remuneration package for Level C: $102,118 - $117,642 p.a. (which includes a base salary Senior Lecturer Level C $86,291 - $99,499 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation)

Remuneration package for Level D: $122,791 - $135,150 p.a. (which includes a base salary Level D $103,900 - $114,463 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation)
