2 Statistical Opportunities at Eli Lilly

Eli Lilly

At Lilly, our work saves lives and affects the quality of life for people around the globe. Our success as one of the largest biotech firms in the world stems from more than 125 years of experience, a pipeline of innovative products, and a dedicated team of some of the brightest individuals in the industry. We’re doing extraordinary things. Join us and you could be too.

We currently have openings within our Intercontinental Information Sciences (ICIS) organisation based in Macquarie Park, Sydney. ICIS provides expertise in the development, analysis and reporting of clinical studies across Lilly's Intercontinental Region. This region covers areas as diverse as Asia Pacific, South America and Canada. Our focus is commercialisation activities but we also get involved in registration and reimbursement support.

PROJECT STATISTICIAN (Associate/Senior)

Our Project Statisticians provide statistical leadership in the design, analysis and reporting of our clinical studies. We partner with our medical and other colleagues in designing trials that are statistically and scientifically sound. We develop statistical analysis plans, collaborating closely to ensure our analysis strategies will meet the needs for reporting. At the analysis stage of our work, we collaborate with our statistical analysts to execute both interim and final analyses. Finally, we provide the technical expertise for our scientific communications team as they develop study reports and scientific papers and other products to disseminate the results of our research. During the course of our work, we build expertise in the application of statistical methodology to one or more therapeutic areas. We also have the opportunity to pass on our knowledge through running workshops and advising internal and external customers in technical areas.

A strong knowledge of advanced methodology in biostatistics supported by a post-graduate degree in statistics or biostatistics are essential for this role together with self management, ability to influence, problem solving and strategic thinking skills. A background in clinical research is highly desirable.

STATISTICAL ANALYST (Associate/Senior)

Our Statistical Analysts provide statistical programming expertise in the planning and conduct of the data analysis of our clinical studies. We are responsible for developing innovative methods for improving the quality and efficiency of reporting techniques and providing advice to internal and external customers on statistical programming issues. We are active members of our cross-functional study teams, collaborating closely with statistical, IT and data management colleagues. We also provide oversight and guidance to our outsourcing partners. During the course of our work, we build expertise in data derivations and analyses in one or more therapeutic areas.

A bachelor’s degree in statistics or related area and experience in statistical programming using SAS macro, Stat and Base are essential for this role. Knowledge of the clinical trials process and experience with statistical methods in clinical research will be an advantage, as will an understanding of advanced statistical analysis methodology. The ability to successfully communicate statistical concepts to non-statisticians is also desirable for this role.
