The Faculty of Medicine is a large and comprehensive assembly of health and medical education and research in the Asia Pacific. The School of Public Health, a core part of the Faculty, offers leading educational and research opportunities that are recognised as an institutional strength for the University.
The School currently has a fixed term full time appointment available for an Associate Lecturer in Biostatistics and Epidemiology, to commence in January 2008.
The appointee will tutor in both biostatistics and epidemiology and help coordinate teaching in these areas for postgraduate students in a range of programs including the Master of Public Health, Master of International Public Health and Master of Clinical Epidemiology. This is a junior academic position and will be suitable for applicants desiring experience working in an academic environment within one of Australia’s leading universities. The successful candidate will be responsible for associated administration duties, the development and grading of assessment material and evaluation of course work.
A Master of Public Health, Master of Clinical Epidemiology or completion of equivalent core coursework in epidemiology and biostatistics is required. The appointee will need a sound understanding of epidemiology and biostatistics demonstrated by completion of at least some advanced elective units in epidemiology and biostatistics in an MPH or equivalent program.
Excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines, and to work as part of a team as well as independently are essential. Teaching and administrative experience will be advantageous.
The position is full-time for 12 months subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. There is the possibility of further offers of employment for 12 months, subject to funding and need. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
Remuneration package: up to $57,210 - $77,638 p.a. pro rata (which includes a base salary Associate Lecturer Level A $48,343 - $65,605 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation)
