The School of Mathematics and Statistics is a large and diverse School with research strengths in many areas of Mathematics and Statistics. The current areas of research in Statistics and Probability within the School are asymptotic approximations and limit theorems, applied probability, non-parametric methods, biological models and time series. The School also has interests in Financial Mathematics and Bioinformatics.

Applications are invited for a Lectureship in Statistics in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. The successful candidate will engage in research and scholarly activities in mathematical statistics, as well as teach a range of courses and play an active role in the administration of the School.

Essential criteria for the position are: a PhD (or equivalent qualification); demonstrated evidence of research ability and potential in an area of Statistics, Probability, or Stochastic Processes; evidence of ability and commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching; excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work cooperatively with others.

The position is full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and/or confirmation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.

Remuneration package: $83,363 - $98,993 p.a. (which includes a base salary Lecturer Level B $70,443 - $83,651 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation)
