TRAINEE BIOSTATISTICIAN, (various positions), Clerk, Grade 7/8, Centre for Epidemiology and Research. Vacancy No: CA07/101. Total remuneration package to $82,241 p.a. including salary ($69,468-$74,527), employer’s contribution to superannuation and leave loading. Trainees will gain experience in biostatistics through supervised full-time work-based placements and undertake a Masters Degree in Biostatistics or Medical Statistics part time. Subject to the signing of a Deed of Agreement, the Department will pay University fees and appropriate study leave will be granted. Essential selection criteria: Honours degree majoring in Statistics, or equivalent; extensive experience in use of statistical software packages for manipulation and analysis of data sets; interest in application of statistical methods to the analysis of health data sets; good communication skills, including skills in scientific writing; good consultation and negotiation skills; demonstrated ability to work as part of a team. Common selection criteria also apply*. Note: This is a temporary appointment in terms of Section 27 of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act 2002 for a period up to 3 years.
