(comprising of salary, 17% superannuation and leave loading)

The recently established School of Medicine is part of the College of Health and Science at the University of Western Sydney, and is primarily located at the Campbelltown Campus. The School pursues excellence in education and research, and aims to teach students in a way that is contemporary and highly relevant to their eventual careers. It has the dual aim of attracting current and future medical leaders to the region, and in turn improving the provision of health care to the Greater Western Sydney (GWS) community.

The University of Western Sydney is committed to research, and we are recognised for our capacity to collaborate with partners from industry, community and government. The School of Medicine shares the same commitment, and has been very successful in attracting skilled researchers across the various fields of Science, Medicine and Health. The School’s strong focus on research since its official opening in 2006 has developed a need for a Biostatistician / Research Data Manager to assist the School with its many research projects, most specifically in the area of Population Health.

The Biostatistician/Research Data Manager will broadly be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of research databases, as well as data extraction, technical support and statistical analysis. The main challenges of this role will include manipulation and analysis of complex data, meeting the needs of a diverse range of researchers and projects, dealing with external data custodians and maintaining the strictest confidentiality. As this is a new role, initially the successful candidate will have the task of developing and implementing all data management policies and procedures for the School of Medicine.

Initial enquiries may be directed in confidence to Professor Louisa Jorm on telephone +61 2 4620 3096 or email l.jorm@uws.edu.au. All applications should be forwarded via e-mail to recruitment@uws.edu.au quoting reference number 70334.
