Applications are invited for a continuing full-time
lectureship at Level B in stochastic processes,
probability or mathematical statistics.
The appointee will have an outstanding
research record and proven teaching ability. He
or she will enhance the school’s research
profile, supervise postgraduate students and
contribute to the undergraduate teaching
programs in statistics.
Selection criteria:
Essential
1. A PhD in stochastic processes or a closely related discipline.
2. Demonstrated capacity to engage in outstanding research consistent with the strengths
and strategic directions of the School.
3. A strong record of research publications (relative to opportunity)
4. Clear potential to earn income through external research granting bodies, or
professional service.
5. Ability to develop and deliver innovative and exciting teaching in statistics.
6. Ability to supervise postgraduate research students.
7. Demonstrated capacity to work constructively and collaboratively with colleagues in
furthering the aims of the School.
8. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Desirable
9. Demonstrated profile of obtaining national competitive grants or other significant
external funding.
10. Demonstrated experience in undergraduate teaching and postgraduate research
supervision.
11. Ability to perform administrative duties independently, thoroughly and efficiently.
12. Ability and commitment to promote mathematical statistics to potential students and
the wider community.
Specific duties of a level B lecturer may include preparation and delivery of lectures and
seminars, conduct of tutorials and practical classes, marking and assessment, student
consultations, conduct of research and research publications, attendance at school or faculty
meetings and a range of administrative functions which are related to the units in which the
academic teaches.

Salary range: $67,818 - $80,535 pa Level B
plus generous superannuation
