The Data Management Unit provides data management and statistical support for the Australian Research Centre for the Health and Well-Being of Women and Babies (ARCH) within the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and in the collaborative research networks and hospitals nationally, regionally and internationally. The Research Centre, based at The Women’s and Children’s Hospital, is directed by Professor Caroline Crowther along with five other high profile research leaders.

ARCH carries out high quality and timely maternal and perinatal research across the spectrum from preconception, through pregnancy and childbirth, infancy and later life. From applied research through to clinical care and community implementation, the research centre conducts, evaluates, nurtures, and translates research and relevant evidence to promote the best health and wellbeing possible for all women and their babies.

We are seeking a Senior Statistician/Director Data Management Unit to direct the Data Management Unit, supervise staff, mentor research students, conduct statistical analyses for the centre research projects and contribute to the multidisciplinary research team.

You should have:

an appropriate Qualification in statistics or related discipline

experience working as a statistician in a health care environment or similar

evidence of substantial experience in using statistical programs (eg SAS/STATA or similar).

proven ability in managing large databases

appropriate work visa

Full-time salary: (HEO9) $77,287 - $82,804 per annum, pro rata at 22.05 hours per week (three - five days per week). Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17% applies. This fixed-term position available from 14 January 2008 for a period of 2 years.
