Epidemiologist

Employment Opportunity: Epidemiologist, Epidemiology Team, Population Health Services (PHS), Central Area Health Service, Queensland Health

Epidemiologist 1 permanent full-time position: Brisbane (Windsor), Redcliffe, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg, or Rockhampton, Population Health Service (location negotiable).

Remuneration value up to $88 503 p.a., comprising salary between $71 907 - $77 569 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (PO4) JAR: H07PCH391.This position offers the unique opportunity to live either in Brisbane, or in one of Queensland's attractive regional centres.

Duties/Abilities: Primary responsibilities include chronic disease epidemiology and communicable disease surveillance, the practice of Evidence-Based Public Health and the investigation of disease outbreaks. In collaboration with other PHS staff, the Epidemiologist will also initiate, design, conduct and report on population health research and provide epidemiological advice and support for public health research projects conducted within PHS. This will include appropriate epidemiological support for Communicable Disease Control, Environmental Health, Public Health Nutrition and Health Promotion services.The workplace location will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

The position requires the possession of a post-graduate degree in epidemiology, applied epidemiology or biostatistics relevant to public health such as the Masters of Applied Epidemiology, Masters of Clinical Epidemiology, Masters of Biostatistics or equivalent; or demonstrated eligibility to complete same within six months of appointment. Applicants must hold Australian citizenship or be eligible for Australian Permanent Resident status at the time of application. New Zealand Citizens are also invited to apply.
