Contribute to Teaching and Research in Biostatistics applied to Public Health and Clinical Epidemiology

Since its inception in 2001, the School of Population Health has established itself as a leading centre of public health teaching and research that, by influencing health care reform both in Australia and abroad, can improve the lives of people around the world. The School is one of seven within The University of Queensland’s Faculty of Health Sciences, which is led by Professor Peter Brooks as Executive Dean.

The School of Population Health offers undergraduate degrees in Population Health and Indigenous Health, and a number of postgraduate Master of Public Health coursework programs, as well as research training at Masters and Doctoral levels. The School has about 100 research higher degree students and graduates about 20 PhDs a year. The School hosts 30-40 international higher degree students in its programs each year.

The role The successful applicant will be located in the Discipline of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, within the School and will contribute to the development, organisation and delivery of courses in biostatistics. This role will require you to supervise and co-supervise Master Dissertations and Research Higher Degrees students. Additionally, in this role you will be required to develop a research program, either in an area of biostatistics related to the School’s major research themes, collaboratively with multidisciplinary research teams within the School, or in collaboration with staff in local hospitals.

The person Applicants should possess a PhD or equivalent research experience in an area relevant to Biostatistics, and should be able to demonstrate relevant research and teaching experience in this field.

Remuneration The remuneration package will be in the range $68,238 to $81,034 (Level B) per annum or $83,592 to $96,387 (Level C) per annum, plus employer superannuation contributions of 17%. Level of appointment will be dependent upon qualifications, experience and academic achievements. This is a full-time, fixed term appointment to 31 December 2012.
