Statistics Jobs in Australia:
2008 April - June
Andrew Mackinnon, 18 April 2008
Biostatistician
Orygen Research Centre
Statistics Unit at the Orygen Research Centre is seeking an additional staff member
Orygen Research Centre studies psychiatric disorders with a focus on psychosis
(which includes schizophrenia) and, in particular, its emergence young people and
how this may be prevented. (see http://www.orygen.org.au/)
Unit staff have a wide range of roles from assisting clinical staff in the conduct
and interpretation of quite basic statistics, data management, through to analyses
of complex trial and longitudinal data. There is some flexibility in the work the
new staff member could take on according to their expertise, so I would encourage
people from a diversity of backgrounds to consider the position. This might include
individuals from areas such as the behavioural sciences who have a strong
quantitative background, as well as applied statisticians.
The Centre is part of the University of Melbourne and is currently located at the
Parkville Campus of Melbourne Health (behind the zoo).
The appointment will be made at Level A or B depending on qualifications and
experience. It will be offered for one year with the possibility of reappointment.
Applications close 27th April 2008.
