Applications are invited for the position of Professor/Associate Professor in Statistics. The successful candidate will be expected to take up the position by 1 February 2009. This position is based in the Department of Statistics, which is one of three departments in the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences.

We are seeking applicants with an outstanding international reputation and substantial publication record in any area of statistics, a proven ability to direct research of high quality. The successful applicant would be expected to contribute to teaching at all levels and to provide academic leadership within the Department.

The rank of Professor in New Zealand is attained by a smaller proportion of academics than in North America; the New Zealand Associate Professor rank more closely approximates the North American rank of Full Professor.
