Senior/Principal Research Engineer

SUMMARY
The Senior/Principal Research Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of biometric technology with particular emphasis on speaker authentication for testing and evaluation of systems. She/he will report to the R&D Manager and is expected to work with minimal supervision.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and test new algorithms in accordance with the company’s technology plan.
2. Liaise with engineering for the successful integration of these algorithms into the Auraya test and evaluation platform.
3. Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs. Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
4. Document the algorithms and test results.
5. Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with users.
6. Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.
7. Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference.
8. Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervise more junior staff.
2. Liaise with the sales and marketing team.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL
1. A Bachelor’s or post graduate degree in Statistics, Engineering, computer science or related discipline.
2. Good knowledge of the Perl scripting language with experience in speaker verification, speech recognition, or similar area.
3. At least 5 years experience in programming using a language such as C/C++ in an R&D environment.
4. Good oral and written communication skills.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
1. A relevant higher degree.
2. Experience in Matlab coding and visualization.
3. Experience in graphical user interface design, for example, Perl TK.
