This is a team based role where you will specialise in the development, application and communication of new and improved fisheries assessment techniques that will increase the sustainability of the commercial and recreational fishing sectors in Queensland. You will work collaboratively with others in the team and with external stakeholders to provide research services to DPI&F according to an ongoing funded schedule of stock assessment related activities. The use of various statistical and mathematical methods to analyse fisheries data is an integral part of the position’s role.
The responsibilities required of this job are:
1.Develop, evaluate and report on the status of various fisheries resources as negotiated with fisheries managers, industry, clients and other stakeholders.
2.Analyse numerous fishery data sets using appropriate statistical and mathematical methodologies.
3.Research, analyse and make recommendations on relevant government priorities inline with improving the management of the commercial and recreational fishing industries and their supporting ecosystems and improving industry profitability and sustainability.
