Biostatistician

CogState is seeking a Biostatistician to join its Melbourne office.

In this role you will work closely with CogState staff, customers and collaborators for all statistical activities related to the use of CogState technology in clinical trials, conducted predominantly within the USA and Europe.

The primary duties of the role include:

  • Act as lead statistician on multiple studies
  • Attend study team meetings as required
  • Meet with sponsors during protocol development to ensure the adequacy of proposed statistical analysis methods
  • Where necessary, assist with writing the statistical methodology sections of study protocols, including calculating necessary sample sizes to achieve a pre-specified power
  • Where necessary, write formal Statistical Analysis Plans and develop organized, well-presented mock-up displays for tables, listings, and figures
  • Perform statistical analyses of data and interpret results to ensure validity of conclusions. Meet with client as requested to discuss analyses conducted
  • Liaise with report writing teams to ensure accuracy and fidelity of study reports regarding statistical data
  • Interact with Data Management and Study personnel as necessary to ensure that datasets are in a usable format
  • Review statistical sections of draft documents
  • Interact with other CogState personnel to ensure a high level of client satisfaction with each analysis and report
  • Providing statistical input into CogState research and development

    The successful candidate will have the following skill-set:

  • MS degree required with a minimum of five years experience in statistics or PhD with two years of experience in statistics
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Must be proficient in SAS
  • Computer proficiency is required
  • Ability to perform statistical analyses of clinical data
  • Ability to interpret results of data analyses to ensure validity of conclusions
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret common scientific and technical journals
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time and resource management skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate statistical concepts
  • An understanding of outcomes in clinical trials settings
