The uro-oncology service has a variety of innovative technical studies aiming to improve treatment accuracy for prostate and bladder cancers. The dual aim of such studies is to improve cancer control and reduce normal tissue side effects. This position within the uro-oncology service, is to assist the service through the design and implementation of advanced statistical techniques for the optimisation of radiotherapy delivery. Within this area the successful candidate will be required to:
Independently conduct applied statistical research
Design and execute statistical analyses for clinical trials
Provide statistical consultation to medical and radiation therapy
practitioners
The successful candidate must possess a degree in statistics or a closely related numerate discipline, have a proven track record in statistical research and have experience in statistical programming, preferably S-Plus or R. Additionally, the successful candidate must possess good written and oral communication skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision.
A post-graduate qualification in statistics, experience in the application of Bayesian statistics, as well as experience in the design and analysis of clinical trials are all highly desirable. An understanding of oncology, familiarity with machine learning techniques, and with GLMs are advantageous.
