The School of Mathematics and Statistics is a large and diverse School with research strengths in many areas of Mathematics and Statistics. The current areas of research in Statistics and Probability within the School are asymptotic approximations and limit theorems, applied probability, including applications in financial mathematics, time series, extreme value theory, generalized linear models, bioinformatics and biological models.

Applications are invited for two positions as an Associate Professor (Level D), Senior Lecturer (Level C) or Lecturer (Level B) in Statistics in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. Successful candidates will engage in research and scholarly activities in mathematical statistics, as well as teach a range of courses and play an active role in the administration of the School.

Key requirements for this position include: a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant research area; demonstrated evidence of research ability and potential in an area of Statistics, Probability, Stochastic Processes or financial mathematics; evidence of ability, versatility and commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching; excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work cooperatively with others.

For appointment at senior levels, the candidate must possess an established research record, success in obtaining external research funding, demonstrated administrative skills and leadership in the discipline of probability or statistics. The positions are full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and/or confirmation period for new appointees.

Remuneration package: $88,466 - $143,422 p.a. (which includes a base salary Level B/C $74,755 - $ 105,589p.a.; Level D $110,260 -121,469 $ p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation)

Visa sponsorship will be available for the successful appointees if required and level of appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
