Descriptive Epidemiology
Cancer Council Queensland is the foremost non-government, anti-cancer organisation in
Queensland. Cancer Council Queensland conducts a range of activities including cancer
prevention and early detection, patient support services and an extensive program of
research. Our Viertel Centre for Research in Cancer Control is currently seeking an
experienced person to fill the role of Project Manager: Descriptive Epidemiology, on a fulltime,
two year contract.
The Viertel Centre for Research in Cancer Control incorporates an Epidemiology Unit, a
Psycho-Oncology Research Unit and the Queensland Cancer Registry. All sections of Cancer
Council Queensland work together as part of an integrated approach to cancer control based
on surveillance, research and evidence-based interventions.
The role: The Project Manager will work within the Descriptive Epidemiology Research
Program to document, organise and analyse in-house, national and international datasets
with a focus on assisting research into geographical inequalities in cancer incidence and
survival.
The person: With qualifications in health research, preferably with some knowledge in cancer
research, you will have up to two years experience in a similar role where you have
demonstrated aptitude for statistical programming, data manipulation and management.
Formal statistical training (graduate or post-graduate level) would be advantageous. High
order numerical skills, attention to detail and well developed written skills will see you succeed
in this role.
