Cancer Council Queensland is the foremost non-government, anti-cancer organisation in
Queensland. Cancer Council Queensland conducts a range of activities including cancer
prevention and early detection, patient support services and an extensive program of
research. Our Viertel Centre for Research in Cancer Control is currently seeking an
experienced Senior Research Officer for a full-time, three year contract.
The Viertel Centre for Research in Cancer Control incorporates an Epidemiology Unit, a
Psycho-Oncology Research Unit and the Queensland Cancer Registry. All sections of Cancer
Council Queensland work together as part of an integrated approach to cancer control based
on surveillance, research and evidence-based interventions.
The role: As the Senior Research Officer you will be responsible for developing and coordinating
research projects. You will also prepare proposals for future funding, while
continuously providing expert advice, support and training to project staff.
The person: With a masters or PhD in epidemiology, public health or a related discipline, you
will have demonstrated experience in writing research proposals and manuscripts; in addition
to your project management experience you will have experience managing project staff and
budgets. A high level of written, analytical and verbal communication skills, along with
experience using statistical analysis packages is essential for this role.
