The Department is the largest Statistics group or department in Australia, with 25 academic staff. The successful applicants for these positions will teach in a variety of units at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, and carry out research. While the areas of statistical research are not prescribed, applicants with strong records in applied or theoretical statistics will be preferred. Current areas of research may be found at www.stat.mq.edu.au/research. Applicants should indicate the level at which they which to apply for each position.

The successful applicant will take on the role of Director of STAT170, the main service course offered by the department. He/she will also engage in scholarly and research activities, undertake associated administration, and contribute to university service.

Essential Criteria at Level B: PhD in statistics or a related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and experience; an established research record in a relevant area of statistics or statistical education; experience in tertiary level teaching including involvement in large service course programs and associated curriculum development; excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Desirable Criteria at Level B: record of interdisciplinary research

Additional Essential Criteria at Level C: demonstrated success in running a Statistics service course including awareness of the issues involved in maintaining and improving the quality of a Statistics service course which is offered to students with a variety of educational backgrounds;

Level B (Lecturer) - Package from $84,949 pa, including base salary $71,783 - $85,121 pa, up to 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.

Level C (Senior Lecturer) - Package from $103,891 pa, including base salary $87,789 - $101,129 pa, up to 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.
