The University of Sydney

The Medical Schools Outcomes Database (MSOD) and Longitudinal Tracking Project is a major program of medical educational research and workforce planning which has national and international significance. MSOD is a collection of demographic, educational and career intention data on medical students across all medical schools in Australia and, from 2009, graduates will be tracked through the early part of their medical career. The national database will provide a basis for monitoring and reporting outcomes of medical education programs on career take-up and contribute significantly to medical workforce planning.

Information on the project can be found at www.medicaldeans.org.au/msod.html

This project, funded by the Department of Health and Ageing, is conducted by Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand Inc. which is the peak representative body representing medical education and medical research in Australian and New Zealand universities. Although a separate organisation to the University, staff are employees of the University of Sydney (organizationally within the Faculty of Medicine) and enjoy all employment terms and conditions applicable to University staff.
