The Social Statistics Development Unit of Statistics New Zealand is
responsible for designing and developing Social Surveys that reflect the
lives of all people living and working in New Zealand. These surveys will
help drive forward our evidence base on topics such as well-being, and the
circumstances and characteristics of New Zealanders, and contribute to the
work of planners, policy makers, researchers and interest groups.
An exciting and challenging opportunity now exists for someone to join us
to work on the development of the new Maori Social Survey.
Working within a productive team-based environment, you will have the
opportunity to be involved in:
delivering key projects while drawing upon your questionnaire design
and survey development skills.
developing a sound understanding of the factors that drive
statistical quality, to produce fit for purpose outputs to time and
specification.
the development of new social surveys as part of the Programme of
Official Social Statistics.
We want to hear from you if you have:
social survey questionnaire design experience
language and communication skills
logical thinking skills
demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively, and solve
problems
a tertiary qualification in a social science or related discipline
a strong team and self-development focus - you actively support your
colleagues while also developing your own skills and capabilities
strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
a commitment to quality, coupled with energy and drive
a real interest in expanding New Zealand's information base
Te Reo Maori would be useful but is not essential.
