PhD Scholarships

University of Ballarat

The University of Ballarat is currently calling for scholarship applications to undertake postgraduate studies commencing in 2010. The University is currently offering an increased number (compared to recent years) of domestic HDR students with full (APA or UB) scholarships.

It is hoped that a number of scholarships will be offered to outstanding candidates interested in undertaking studies relating to the University's Injury prevention and safety promotion (IPSP) strategic research theme. Candidates with an interest in conducting research in one of the following areas are encouraged to contact Prof Caroline Finch (c.finch@ballarat.edu.au ) for further information:

Research Theme A - Innovative and rigorous methodologies for injury prevention research. Project Area 1 Injury data collections, procedures and definitions for defining and monitoring the problem and to provide indicators against which progress can be assessed; novel statistical approaches to analysing data Project Area 2 Better understanding of player/surface interactions and their role in injury causation Project Area 3 Adapting, modifying or developing social marketing and behavioural change models to inform intervention development and implementation

Research Program B. Building the evidence that directly transforms injury prevention knowledge into safety practice. Project Area 1 Safety culture in the workplace - in depth case studies and generating new setting-specific understanding Project Area 2 Community uptake of sport injury interventions - in depth case studies and generating new setting-specific understanding Project Area 3 New conceptual/theoretical approaches to translation that draw on the detailed context specific evidence from B1 and B2 - comparing and contrasting to draw conclusions for both settings and the broader injury prevention field.
