Energy Market Analyst/Consultant

McLennan Magasanik Associates (MMA) is a strategic consulting company which has for over 20 years specialised in providing technological and economic analysis and advice to private and public sector clients. MMA’s core expertise is in applying quantitative analysis to areas which require a combination of technical, economic and business expertise. Our perspective is independent, international and long-term. While most of our current work is in energy, the firm also operates on water, environmental and process industry assignments. MMA’s principal office is in South Melbourne, with a branch office in Brisbane.

MMA is continuing to grow and we are seeking one or more people at the Energy Market Analyst/Consultant level who will work, in the Melbourne or Brisbane offices, on a wide range of activities including collating market information, analysing data and constructing models to produce future electricity, gas and water demand as well as price and revenue forecasts. MMA develops and maintains its own energy models, such as MMAGas, and uses the Strategist and PLEXOS proprietary energy market models.

The successful applicant will have excellent mathematical, analytical and information management skills, must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people within and outside MMA and possess the confidence, initiative and creativity to solve problems. Tertiary qualifications in a numerate discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research or Economics are essential. Expertise in the use of one or more energy market models, statistical or econometric analysis and Excel macro programming will be highly regarded.
