The Monitoring Evaluation and Research Unit is responsible for a range of activities
to meet the Institute's reporting requirements. This includes regular reporting for
Divisions and Units, analytical support for reporting and special projects, and
collaboration and advice on the design and development of methods to evaluate
programs and projects. The Unit also operates a statistical and epidemiological
consultancy service and is integral to building research capacity within the
Institute. Other key functions include the design, development and refinement of
information systems to support the Institute's monitoring, evaluation and reporting
activities.
Senior Biostatistician
----------------------
Senior technical specialist role
Provide expert advice on complex statistical analyses
Permanent on-going position
Leading a small team of statistical specialists the Senior Biostatistician is
responsible for providing expert statistical input into the monitoring, evaluation
and research activities of the Cancer Institute NSW. The position also undertakes
high level statistical analysis of cancer data and reports on complex
epidemiological and statistical issues whilst working in collaboration with the
Manager, MERU and other health professionals.
To be successful in this role you will have tertiary and postgraduate qualifications
at Masters or PhD level and extensive experience in the analysis, management and
interpretation of large data sets preferably in a health environment. You will also
have thorough knowledge of epidemiology and advanced biostatistical techniques and
strong computing skills using databases and statistical software packages such as
SAS, SPSS or similar. In addition, you will have strong communication skills and
experience working in a collaborative environment.
Epidemiologist/Team Leader

Develop epidemiological reports
Leading a small team of Epidemiologists the Team Leader/Epidemiologist is
responsible for the identification and development of key cancer control indicators
for performance management and program evaluation. The role is also responsible for
providing epidemiological input into the development of the Cancer Institute NSW
strategic plans and reports whilst also developing high quality reports and
analytical projects to support the delivery of strategic objectives.
To be successful in this role you will have tertiary and postgraduate qualifications
at Masters or PhD level and extensive experience in the analysis and reporting of
descriptive epidemiological data using statistical software packages such as SAS.
You will also have a thorough knowledge of information systems design and management
and strong communications skills with the demonstrated ability to work
collaboratively.
Manager, Data and Reporting

Manage a web based online analysis and reporting tool
Establish and manage a data access process
The Manager, Data & Reporting is responsible for overseeing the provision of
information in response to data requests received by the Cancer Information &
Registries division and the Cervical Screening Program. The role is responsible for
the ongoing development and maintenance of a web based analysis and reporting tool,
the establishment and management of a data access process and the provision of
expert advice for the interpretation of data. The role is also responsible for day
to day management of an Analyst, Data and Reporting Systems.
To be successful in this role you will hold tertiary qualifications in health
information management, statistics or a related discipline and have extensive
experience in manipulating, analysing and reporting on large complex datasets using
SAS or similar software tools. You will also have experience developing and
managing metadata, and high level communication, negotiation and stakeholder
management skills.
Analyst, Data and Reporting Systems

Work with a team of technical specialists
The Analyst, Data & Reporting Systems is responsible for the collation, analysis and
dissemination of accurate data and the preparation of reports. The position also
contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of programs through
provision of statistical and epidemiological data and advice to support screening
programs, cancer research and related activities.
To be successful in this role you will have tertiary qualifications in health
information management, statistics or a related discipline and experience in
manipulating, analysing and reporting on large complex datasets using SAS or similar
software tools. You will also have good analytical and problem solving skills,
sound organisational skills and well developed written and oral communication
skills.
