The School of Public Health is a network of researchers, research groups and centres that facilitate the study of Public Health. Offering educational and research opportunities, the School’s work is recognised as an institutional strength for the University.

The School of Public Health is seeking to appoint a Lecturer to teach and research in the discipline of Biostatistics. The appointee will teach introductory and more advanced biostatistics to postgraduate students enrolled in degrees in biostatistics, public health and clinical epidemiology, using both face to face and on-line delivery. Additionally, they will supervise Master of Biostatistics and other postgraduate coursework students’ research projects, and will be encouraged to develop their own independent research interests, in an area consistent with the School’s research and teaching in biostatistics and epidemiology.

A higher degree in Biostatistics or applied statistics is essential and a demonstrated history of relevant research and publication highly desirable. Experience teaching applied statistics and providing advice on biostatistics will be crucial for success. The appointee will have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with students and university staff. Experience in course development and administration, online delivery, and supervision of student’s research projects will be regarded favourably.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Lecturer with a strong interest in biostatistics to continue their professional development with a School renowned for its high quality research and teaching. The School enjoys an excellent collaborative relationship with Government health agencies, allowing the successful candidate to play a major role in important public health research.

The position is fixed term for one year subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees with the possibility of further offer of employment. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.

Remuneration package: A competitive remuneration package is available (consisting of a base salary $78,538 p.a - $92,948 p.a, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
