Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on the Forecasting the Economic Impact of Disease in Older Workers

Description:

This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-Projects grant and will provide support on a full-time basis leading to a PhD. The aim of this project is to examine and forecast the relationship between health and work and determine the economic impacts of disease on older workers, aged 45 to 65 years through to 2030, using complex microsimulation modelling. The successful applicant will work in Sydney at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, part of the Sydney Medical School.

Eligibility:

Applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in economics, computer science, mathematics or health sciences and experience in statistical analysis/modelling with large data sets using SAS. Knowledge of the impact of health on labour force participation would be an advantage. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.

Amount awarded:

The scholarship stipend is $27,222 p.a. in 2010 (tax exempt), and the current funding is for two years only. Please note that this scholarship is conditional on the University signing an agreement with the Industry Partner(s) named in the grant.
