Postdoctoral Research Associate in Bayesian Marketing Science

We are seeking a post-doctorial research associate to undertake research as part of an Australian Research Council Discovery Project entitled "New Methods for Analysing Marketing Databases in the Age of Digital Media."

Location: Melbourne, Australia.
Term of Contract: Fixed Term of 2 Years (with possible extension for a third year).
Anticipated Start Date: August, 2010
Closing Date: 8 March 2010

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in Bayesian Marketing Science. Successful applicants must either hold a PhD, or anticipate being awarded this qualification in the near future. Preference may be given to applicants with experience in Markov chain Monte Carlo methods and/or copula modelling; although consideration will be given to all applicants with a background in statistics, econometrics or marketing science. Strong scientific computing skills are essential, and project will involve the management of some large databases.

The position will initially be for a two year fixed term, with the possibility of an extension for a third year depending upon progress. The successful applicant will be based at Melbourne Business School’s (MBS) Carlton campus.

The project will be led by Professors Michael Smith and Peter Danaher of MBS. Professor Danaher has extensive experience in marketing science and stochastic models, while Professor Smith has extensive experience in Bayesian inference and statistical modelling. The project will involve a combination of Bayesian statistics, marketing modelling, computational implementation and applied empirical analysis.

It has a diverse faculty, many of whom publish regularly in the top academic journals in their fields.
