Senior Analyst

Vacancy for Senior Analyst (e.g. Statistician, Biostatistician) at NSW Bureau of Health Information, Chatswood, NSW

This is a challenging opportunity for experienced, skilled and enthusiastic researchers to work within a newly established Bureau of Health Information (BHI).

The BHI is an independent organisation, established by the NSW Government, to be the leading source of information on the performance of the public health system in NSW. The successful candidate will contribute to the establishment of the BHI's research practice and culture, interacting with senior health care policy, management and practice communities.

You will be joining a newly established team of professionals who will deliver accurate and timely information release and improve communication between NSW Health and the public.

The main purposes of the position are to:
  • Work in consultation with staff to create the core content of timely, high quality public reports and web-based analytic products on the performance of the NSW public health system in areas identified as priority in work plan.
  • Undertake complex temporal and case-mix adjusted analyses of population-based administrative and/or survey data and support high level interpretation of those analyses, in order to (a) evaluate performance of the public health system; (b) identify important trends, opportunities for service improvement and potential impact of policy change; and (c) benchmark the performance of the system through comparisons.
  • Provide expert advice on improvements and enhancements to health system data to optimize its alignment with current and emerging priorities for information.
