The St Andrew's Medical Institute (SAMI) is an innovative health service research organisation, which is collaboratively clinician-led and Hospital-aligned with a clear scientific focus towards optimising patient outcomes. The Medical Institute, together with St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, support clinical practitioners determined to expand the international recognition for St Andrew’s world-class outcomes across a range of acute care specialties.

SAMI has recently completed the second stage implementation of an innovative clinical quality system (SAMINet) and now seeks to fill an exciting position to consolidate and build the system’s capacity and utility.

SAMI-Net’s performance demands robust health informatic practices and this role will work closely with multiple electronic data sources to research, deploy and test innovative analyses and reporting methodologies. The role will also lead the migration of disparate data sets to new SAMI-Net registries and the translation end-user requirements for clinical performance information into development specifications.

There is strong potential that this project’s term will be extended, as additional clinical specialists and specialties, geographical areas and facilities/hospitals begin participation in SAMI-Net.

We are looking for a pro-active team-player with a range of experience working with clinical data to support quality activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential.

The St Andrew’s Medical Institute office is situated on the edge of Brisbane's CBD in St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital.

Selection Criteria:

  • Strong and adaptable skills in data analysis and basic statistical techniques for support quality activities, e.g. health informatics/clinical trial data management/registries for clinical audit or quality improvement
  • Clinical or science background desirable, i.e. nursing, medical, allied health or other health professional - or experience in the healthcare/research environment
  • High level MS Office skills especially in Excel and Access;
  • High level organisational & priority management skills;
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills;

    o Candidates whose availability is limited to a substantial part-time position are encouraged to apply.

    A salary package will be negotiated with the successful applicant to reflect their experience.
