General Information

The statistics discipline currently enjoys successful collaborations across a broad range of disciplines in teaching and research with health, finance, psychology and engineering. Statistics majors feature in the BMaths and the BScience, as well as growth of new programs in other mathematics majors.

The discipline is currently developing collaborative teaching and research activities with the University of Wollongong and the University of Western Sydney as part of the Applied Statistics Education and Research Collaboration. More partners are expected to join the collaboration in the near future.

To be successful in this role you will have an excellent research record, preferably with contract / consultancy experience. You will also demonstrate experience in developing effective interdisciplinary relationships. Your excellent leadership and mentoring skills will be vital in leading the dynamic and growing team of nine academics in the statistics discipline. These academics have an enviable record of delivering quality service courses to a number of different programs.

The position is available on a full-time continuing basis.

Women are particularly encouraged to apply as they are under-represented at senior academic levels in the School/Faculty.

Position Description

Selection Criteria
  • PhD in a related area.
  • A record of research excellence in statistics
  • A record of success in obtaining competitive research funding
  • A record of teaching excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to create develop interdisciplinary relationships
  • Demonstrated capacity to act effectively in an academic management role with demonstrated mentoring and leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills ensuring effective communication with students, staff and external parties at all levels.
  • A track record in contract or consultancy experience

    The Position Classification Standard for Professor, Level E should be viewed before applying.

    Conditions and Benefits

    Academic Level E - $136,483 per annum

    Compulsory contributory superannuation is a condition of employment plus generous employer contribution of 17%.
