Academic Biostatistician (Clinical Trial)

Dynamic Biostatistician needed to contribute to Biostatistical Research, Clinical Trials and Consulting in the areas of Biostatistics.

The School of Population Health of the University of Queensland (http://www.sph.uq.edu.au) has an international reputation for research and teaching excellence in epidemiology, biostatistics, tropical and international health, nutrition, burden of disease and cost-effectiveness analyses. Research programs are funded by grants from many sources including the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Australian Research Council (ARC), the Wellcome Trust, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Atlantic Philanthropies, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank.

The Role: The successful applicant will be located in the Queensland Clinical Trials & Biostatistics Centre (QCTBC) (http://www.sph.uq.edu.au/qctbc) which is a part of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Group of the School. QCTBC conducts clinical trials and research programmes in clinical biostatistics with Australian and international academic and industry collaborations. This is an opportunity for an aspiring statistician to develop a career in clinical trials and clinical biostatistics. This position is available for a period of three years, and likely to be continued, depending upon funding. The Appointee will contribute to applied and methodological biostatistical research, and will be responsible for providing biostatistical consulting to clinical collaborators from within the University and Queensland Health. The consulting includes design of clinical studies, statistical analyses and reporting. The Appointee will be working on multiple projects with tight timelines and will be required to maintain a high level of research productivity.

The Person: The successful applicant will have qualifications, skills and experience to pursue the above mentioned activities in biostatistics. A minimum of Masters degree in Statistics or Biostatistics along with some research experience in clinical sciences is essential for this position. The applicant must have good experience with SAS, R, and/or STATA, with programming skills.

Remuneration: This is a full time and fixed term appointment for 3 years at Academic level A or B. The remuneration package will be in the range of Level A: $53,780 to $72,949 or Level B $76,789 to $91,157 plus employer superannuation contributions of 17%. Level of appointment will be dependent upon qualifications, experience and academic achievements.
