Location: Chatswood
Status/Hours: Temporary Full Time or Part Time
Salary: $1507.76 - $1788.33 per week

The Bureau of Health Information aims to be the leading source of information on the performance of the NSW public health system.

Position Purpose:
Work in consultation with the senior analysts in the Bureau of Health Information to define and create core content of timely, high quality public reports and web based analytical products on the performance of the NSW public health system in areas identified as priority in the work plan.

Undertake advanced statistical analyses of population-based administrative data and/or survey data and support high level interpretation of those analyses, in order to (a) evaluate performance of the public health system; (b) identify important trends, opportunities for service improvement and potential impact of policy change; and (c) benchmark the performance of the system through comparisons.

Provide advice on improvements and enhancements to health system data to optimize its alignment with current and emerging priorities for information.

This position is Temporary Full Time or Part Time, up to 30/06/2011 and classified as Health Manager, Level 2.

Selection Criteria:
1. Experience conducting statistical analyses of population-based administrative and survey data using a range of analytic tools and methodologies.

2. Experience undertaking temporal analyses, as well as interpretation of those analyses, to describe and compare the performance of health systems.

3. Experience collaborating with others to create information that directly informs efforts to improve care.

4. Sound knowledge of health care data collections including their strengths and limitations.

5. Experience developing and validating methods and measures to improve public reporting of health system performance.

6. Independently prioritise workload, manage time and collaborate with a highly skilled team to deliver a portfolio of projects.

7. Must be self-motivated and can operate with minimal supervision.

8. Graduate and / or post graduate qualification.
