    An exciting opportunity exists to join the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA). Reporting to the Head of the Retinal Vascular Imaging Centre, the primary focus of this position will be to provide accurate analysis of data from a range of research projects and to provide thorough consultation of such analysis to researchers.

    Responsibilities include;
  • Conduct descriptive statistics and multivariate regression analysis of research projects.
  • Provide advice to researchers and students with regard to the statistical aspects of their research such as, study design, sample size determination, power analysis, data management, data analysis, presentation of statistical information and other associated issues.
  • Contribute to the statistical aspects (power calculation / analysis plans) in the preparation of research proposals and grant applications.
  • Contribute to the production of academic papers, conference papers and/or posters, in particular the statistical aspects.
  • Manage multiple large datasets, with emphasis on maintaining their integrity, and (as required) cleaning and explicitly labelling data, and generating / extracting consistent variables definitions for future data pools.

    The appointee will be required to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders from a broad range of backgrounds, and acquit day-to-day tasks of the role promptly, efficiently and in a highly professional manner. As the position requires frequent communication with other researchers and students, it is important that the appointee has well-developed communication skills, especially in terms of conveying and explaining epidemiological / statistical concepts to non-statisticians.
