Applications are invited for appointment to this position, which will be offered on a full-time tenurable basis, with the successful appointee being required to take up duty at the beginning of Semester 1, 2012.

The School of Mathematics & Physics has an excellent record of committed teaching at the undergraduate and honours levels, and has an active programme of supervision of higher-degree research students. The School is known nationally and internationally for its research in applied mathematics, applied statistics, algebra, mathematical physics, theoretical physics, and radio and optical astronomy. Members of the School of Mathematics & Physics hold research grants, are active in collaborative research programmes and serve on the editorial boards of international journals.

The appointee will be required to teach in the undergraduate and honours mathematics programme, and will teach in the School's suite of statistics subjects, developing new material as required. The candidate will also contribute to the School’s research activities including supervision of advanced degree candidates.

The School seeks to appoint a mathematician with a strong track record in research, who is an enthusiastic and committed teacher. Strong preference will be given to candidates with research interests in Applied Statistics, although outstanding candidates in related fields of the School’s interests, particularly modelling or mathematical evolution, may also be considered.

The appointment will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $83,520 per annum, (comprising salary within the range $60,542 - $71,385 plus 17% superannuation, with the option of an additional 3% salary loading in exchange for 14% instead of 17% superannuation.
