The Sydney Medical School - Westmead provides leading undergraduate and postgraduate education and has built a reputation of excellence for training and research in primary care, public health and clinical medicine.
We are currently seeking a high achieving Research Fellow to contribute to the research profile of the Centre for Vision Research. You will be a dedicated and experienced postdoctoral researcher who has ambitions to develop a career in epidemiology/public health/health economics research. The role will be located at our Westmead campus.
In this role you will:
work closely with the Centre Director and other team members on various research projects related to sensory epidemiology
develop and lead your own research activities relevant to the Centre including preparation of research proposals, grant applications and publications.
To be successful in the role you will have:
PhD or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. Ophthalmology, Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Economics)
demonstrated record of research achievement, including high quality research output
demonstrated ability to use initiative and work effectively with minimal supervision, together with experience in working within a university research team
ability to communicate research outcomes and research ideas
experience working in the area of epidemiology and public health will be highly regarded (desirable)
experience preparing research proposals, and/or grant applications (desirable)
experience with statistical analysis of quantitative data (desirable)
experience working with databases and large data files (desirable).
