    The Faculty of Health Sciences is the largest health science faculty in Australia and is internationally recognised for quality and innovation in teaching and research.

    The Health Systems and Global Populations Research Group looks at how health is constructed in the local and international communities, how health systems are designed and delivered, the evidence base for delivering better or responsive health services, and how health systems impact on populations. The issues examined have a broad context and application across countries.

    We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate or Research Fellow to work under the guidance of Professor Robert Steele, Head of Discipline and Chair of Health Informatics, on a project aimed at investigating the application of social networking and other communications technologies to health and community engagement.

    In this role you will be responsible for:
  • assisting with the design and development of data collection instruments and approaches
  • managing, analysing and presenting data
  • providing feedback on project progress and outcomes at various levels
  • presenting at forums and conferences and contributing to the writing of journal articles and grant submissions
  • potentially jointly supervising Honours/Higher Research Degree student/s
  • supporting the research group in organisational and administrative tasks.

    To succeed you will have:
  • a PhD (or near completion) in an area utilising a social sciences methodology or otherwise related t Health Informatics
  • skills and experience in empirical research methodologies
  • demonstrated ability to contribute to journal and conference articles and grant submissions
  • ability to contribute innovative research ideas
  • excellent communication and organisational skills and demonstrated ability to work within collaborative research teams.

    This role presents an opportunity to contribute to high calibre research and to further develop your research profile while being mentored by leaders in the field. Whilst one focus of the role is to support the group' current research, there may also be opportunities to pursue independent research relevant to the group's focus.
