Senior Research Scientist - Computational Biology, experienced biometrician with sound knowledge in the theoretical and methodological foundations of statistical science, with demonstrated high level ability, expertise, and experience in design and analysis to work across a variety of complex scientific laboratory and field based projects in the areas of biosecurity, ecology and biosciences research.
The role of the Senior Research Scientist - Computational Biology will be:
a) to provide authoritative collaborative and consultative biometric expertise to Biosciences Research Division teams based, within DPI sites at the planned AgriBio, Centre for AgriBioscience, on the LaTrobe University campus (initially at Knoxfield, Attwood and Frankston),DPI Horsham, DPI Hamilton, DPI Tatura DPI Irymple, and DPI Rutherglen;
b) to mentor, train and collaborate with other research scientists (and other DPI Biometricians within the Future Farming Systems Research Division) to facilitate innovative application and development of appropriate biometric tools that enhance the intellectual content of research projects to help achieve quality project outputs;
c) to plan, initiate and lead collaborative biometric research into complex, sensitive and emerging scientific issues relevant to DPI; and
d) to build/strengthen professional partnerships and linkages with internal and external organisations on professional matters of mutual interest relevant to DPI research.
A Doctorate in Life Sciences or Biostatistics/Biometrics with relevant Post-graduate Diploma in Biostatistics/Biometrics or at least 10 years relevant experience in Biostatistics/Biometrics.
